Why does the Sandero stereo ask for a code?
Dacia fits its factory Sandero radios with built-in anti-theft protection. As soon as the unit loses power — from a disconnected battery, a flat battery, a jump start, dashboard work or a swapped head unit — it locks itself and requests a code the next time it’s powered on.
This doesn’t mean the radio is broken. It’s simply a security measure, and once the correct code is entered the stereo returns to normal operation immediately.
As Dacia is part of the Renault group, many Sandero head units share the same platform as Renault radios — which explains why some models use a short pre-code sticker while others are matched purely through the VIN.
Unlocking a Sandero radio using the VIN number
